Tyson Dog

Tyson Dog is a heavy metal band from Newcastle upon Tyne, formed in 1983 during the NWOBHM movement. The group remains active and continues to perform, with its line-up built around original members Kev Wynn on bass, Al Hunter on guitar and vocals, and Paul Burdis on lead guitar. John Carruthers handles vocals, and long-serving drummer Rob Walker later leaves the band. Ex-Blitzkrieg drummer Phil Brewis joins as the new drummer.

Early releases

The band signs to Neat Records soon after forming and issues its debut single, Eat the Rich, in 1983. Its first album, Beware of the Dog, follows in 1984 and is produced by Cronos of Venom, who also provides backing vocals on the track Demon. In 1985 the band releases the Shoot to Kill EP.

Later work

Tyson Dog releases the Crimes of Insanity album in 1986, alongside the single School's Out, an Alice Cooper cover. A later compilation, Painted Heroes, appears on Castle in 2002 and collects the two full-length albums together with the Shoot to Kill EP. The band also releases a later EP, Hammerhead, and remains active on the live circuit.
