Tyla's Dogs D'Amour

Tyla's Dogs D'Amour is the London-based rock group led by English musician Tyla J. Pallas. The band forms in London in 1983 and becomes associated with hard rock, blues rock and rock and roll, with a ramshackle style and bluesy, sing-along songs. Tyla J. Pallas serves as vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and poet, and is also known as a painter whose artwork appears on the band's album covers.

History

The Dogs D’Amour first gains recognition in the late 1980s. Over the years the band goes through various line-ups, while Tyla remains the central figure. Their music develops a cult following in the UK, Europe and Japan. The group appears on Top of the Pops and MTV and features on the covers of Kerrang, RAW and Sounds.

Recordings and chart success

The band releases four albums that reach the UK Top 40. The album

“A Graveyard of Empty Bottles”

reaches number 16 in the UK, and the single “Satellite Kid” reaches number 26. Other songs associated with the band include “How Come It Never Rains” and “I Don’t Want You To Go”.

Later activity

Tyla continues to record and tour after the band’s original peak, keeping the Dogs D’Amour name active. The project records a new album called In Vino Veritas and returns to live performance with a line-up that includes Gary Pennick on guitar, Matty James Cassidy on bass and Simon Hanson on drums.

Other work

Outside the band, Tyla is also a solo artist, having released a large number of albums and toured internationally. He is a published author and continues to work as an artist and poet as well as a musician.
