Ty Segall is an American musician and songwriter from Palo Alto, based in Los Angeles, California. He works as a multi-instrumentalist, playing vocals, guitar and drums, and his music sits across garage punk, garage rock, glam rock, lo-fi, noise rock and psychedelic rock.
Career
Segall begins his recording career as a part-time musician in underground bands in Orange County and the San Francisco Bay Area before starting a solo career in 2008. He releases eleven solo studio albums, along with numerous collaborations, live albums, demos and compilations. His first solo release is the cassette Horn The Unicorn, issued on Wizard Mountain and later re-released on vinyl by HBSP-2X. Wizard Mountain also releases Halfnonagon, a split cassette pairing Segall with Superstitions.
Solo work and collaborations
In 2012, Segall releases three LPs: his solo album Twins, Hair, a collaboration with White Fence, and Slaughterhouse, an album with the Ty Segall Band. He also works on a wide range of projects outside his solo output.
Bands and side projects
He is a member of The Traditional Fools, Sic Alps, GØGGS and Fuzz, and also performs with the Ty Segall Band. Other groups listed for him include Epsilons, Party Fowl, The Perverts and Wasted Shirt. Additional projects associated with him include The C.I.A., Ty Segall & Freedom Band, Broken Bat and Freckle.
