Two Thirds

Two Thirds are a hardcore band from Gislaved, Sweden, active from 1997 to 1998. They begin as a three-piece before expanding to a five-piece, and they play fast hardcore with lyrics centred on the politics of everyday life, animal rights and Sweden’s alcohol culture. The band’s members are vegan or vegetarian, and some are straight edge.

History

The band first forms under the name 2/3 Of The 4th Person, then changes its name to Two Thirds after a dispute with another local group, 8 Days Of Nothing. Their first show is with Forced Into, after which they play live frequently and begin to build a reputation for intense performances. They tour with the Umeå hardcore band Plastic Pride for their farewell run, ending with a show in their home town of Gislaved. The group splits in 1998 after members move on to other bands or grow tired of playing together.

Members and related acts

The only constant members are the three original players who remain from the start. Other members join later as the band grows to five people. After Two Thirds end, members go on to play in or have played in acts including Burning Flames, End In Sight, Last Days Of April, Quadroplain, Deadwood Orqus and Nine.

Live activity and associations

During their short time together, Two Thirds share bills with Converge, Forced Into, 8 Days Of Nothing, Refused, Last Security, The Get Up & Goérs, Burning Flames, Convinced, Plastic Pride, Switchblade, End In Sight, Burnscape and Ink & Dagger, among others. Their final Gislaved show includes Ink & Dagger, and a label is present with plans to release a 7-inch, though this does not go ahead.
