Tuys
Tuys is a Luxembourgish indie band from Luxembourg, active since 2007. The group forms around Kay, Sam, Tun and Yann, who begin playing together as children and develop into a band over time. At first they do not know how to play instruments or read music, but they continue working together and start by writing songs in German and Luxembourgish. After about four years of developing musically and personally, their writing becomes more serious and they begin to release songs in English.
Style and early development
The band combines influences from indie, pop and alternative music into a mixed sound that they treat as their own style. Their early progress is marked by persistence and gradual musical development rather than formal training.
Releases and recognition
Tuys release their first single, People, in 2012. The song reaches number four on Eldoradio’s Luxembourg national charts and number 10 on a separate airplay chart, and it makes the band the third most broadcast Luxembourgish act of that year. They follow it with an EP also called People in 2013. In 2015 they release Carousel, an EP that follows a creative break spent writing and looking for new ideas.
Live activity
The band plays a range of concerts and festivals in Luxembourg and abroad. Their Luxembourg festival appearances include e-Lake, Mess For Masses and Food For Your Senses. In 2014 they support The 1975 at Rockhal in Luxembourg.
Later direction
After the Carousel period, Tuys continue to look for new directions in their songwriting and sound.
