Turnover

Turnover is a rock band from Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. The group forms in 2009 and remains active. Its sound develops from pop punk into indie rock, dream pop, and related styles, with its listed genres also including indie pop, pop, pop, and shoegaze.

Early releases and line-up of style

The band starts out playing pop punk and issues a demo in 2009, followed by a self-titled EP in 2011. In 2012 it releases a split with the pop punk and post-hardcore band Citizen. After that release and a period of touring, Turnover records in November with producer Will Yip, known for work with Title Fight and Circa Survive, and issues its debut album Magnolia in 2013.

Albums and later direction

Magnolia marks a clear change in Turnover’s sound, moving away from the group’s earlier pop punk material towards alternative rock and grunge influences. In 2014 the band contributes to a four-way split and releases the EP Blue Dream. It records again with Will Yip in November 2014, and the resulting album Peripheral Vision is released on Run for Cover Records. That record continues the band’s shift in style, this time towards dream pop and indie rock textures.
