Tuesday Born

Tuesday Born is the jazz-based Afro-electronica project of British pianist, vocalist and producer Gabriel Benn, who is based in Sheffield. Benn is also one half of the duo The Busy Twist. His work develops from a strong interest in Ghanaian music, which he builds through seven visits to the country between 2009 and 2012. Through connections with local musicians and producers in Accra, he develops a hybrid sound that combines African influences with ethereal electronica.

The project sits across world music, nu jazz, jazz and electronica, with an intercontinental approach to rhythm and texture. It reflects Benn’s movement between British and Ghanaian musical ideas, and his work under this name presents a fusion of styles rooted in both improvisation and electronic production.
