Trixie Mattel is the drag character of Brian Firkus, a country and folk artist and entertainer from Milwaukee, United States. Born in 1989, Trixie Mattel is also a DJ and performer associated with the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Season 3.

Drag performance and television

Trixie Mattel first gains wider attention through RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she competes on Season 7 and later returns for All Stars 3, which she wins. She also co-hosts the YouTube series UNHhh with Katya Zamolodchikova.

Music

Her music draws on country and folk, alongside an alt-country and Barbie-inspired image. Her debut mini album, Two Birds, establishes that sound, contrasting with her trademark Barbie aesthetic. She follows it with the album One Stone in 2018 and Barbara, described through a “beach bum Malibu Barbie” concept that reflects the original idea behind the Trixie Mattel persona.

In 2019, Trixie Mattel releases the documentary Moving Parts, which follows her relationship with drag and other aspects of her life and career.
