Trivax

Trivax is an extreme metal group founded in Tehran, Iran, in 2009 by Shayan as a one-man black metal project. The band later expands to a full line-up in 2010 and, after Shayan leaves Iran in 2011, it is re-established in Birmingham, UK, where it remains active.

Origins and development

Trivax begins in underground conditions in Iran, where extreme metal is banned. Its early history is marked by conflict with the authorities and difficulties faced by the members at the time, including robbery, drug problems and a stabbing incident. After the project is disbanded in 2011, Shayan moves to the UK and resumes Trivax after finding new musicians there.

Style and themes

The band describes its music as extreme metal with black metal roots, and it is associated with blackened death metal and death metal. Its image and lyrical direction centre on misanthropy, chaos, darkness and liberation. Shayan is presented as the main songwriter, and the band’s material is shaped by the contrast between its difficult origins and its continued activity in the UK.
