Tristania

Tristania is a Norwegian gothic metal band from Stavanger, active from 1996 to 2022. It is formed by Morten Veland, Einar Moen and Kenneth Olsson, and its line-up includes members such as Rune Østerhus, Anders Høyvik Hidle, Vibeke Stene, Østen Bergøy, Kjetil Ingebrethsen, Svein Terje Solvang, Mariangela Demurtas, Gyri Smørdal Losnegaard, Ole Vistnes, Tarald Lie and Jr.

The band’s music is generally placed within gothic metal, with death metal influence. Its songs often deal with dark and emotional themes, including depression, sadness, suicide, love, absence and anger.

Recording history

Tristania releases seven studio albums: Widow's Weeds in 1998, Beyond the Veil in 1999, World of Glass in 2001, Ashes in 2005, Illumination in 2007, Rubicon in 2010 and Darkest White in 2013.

The band has a period of no known activity from 2016 until an announcement in 2018 that it will perform at 70000 Tons of Metal in early 2019. It later announces that it has disbanded in 2022.
