Triptaka

Triptaka is an industrial rock and electro rock group from Canada, described as originating from “The Great White North”. It is formed by frontman Graeme Cornies, keyboardist James Chapple and guitarist Dave Kelly. The band develops a heavy, experimental sound that draws comparisons with acts such as Nine Inch Nails and Tool, and its music is tagged across industrial rock, progressive rock, experimental and industrial.

Background and style

Triptaka is formed by musicians who want to make the kind of rock music they themselves want to hear, in response to what they see as a lack of inventive music in the scene. The group presents its material as carefully built and methodical, combining heavy textures with an approach that aims for both artistic interest and commercial appeal.

Members and musicianship

The line-up consists of Graeme Cornies, James Chapple and Dave Kelly. All three are experienced as producers, composers and engineers, and their different musical backgrounds contribute to the band’s broad sound. Triptaka’s members use that experience to shape tracks with a polished, varied sonic palette.

Reception

The band receives a positive response online, with more than 13,000 downloads from download.com since September 2005 and fan discussion across the web. Its stated aim is to make music that is artistic, engaging and still viable in commercial terms.
