Trippie Redd is an American rapper, singer and songwriter from Canton, United States. He is born Michael Lamar White II and is associated with emo rap, hip hop, rage and trap.

Career

Trippie Redd is known for helping develop emo rap and rage, a subgenre of trap music. He releases his debut mixtape, A Love Letter to You, through 10K Projects in 2017, and it enters the Billboard 200. Its lead single, Love Scars, is certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. He follows it with A Love Letter to You 2.

In 2018, he releases his debut studio album, Life's a Trip, alongside A Love Letter to You 3. The singles Dark Knight Dummo featuring Travis Scott, Taking a Walk and Topanga all chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Life's a Trip and its follow-up album ! both reach the top five of the Billboard 200, while A Love Letter to You 4 tops the chart in 2019.

His third and fourth studio albums, Pegasus and Trip at Knight, both peak at number two on the Billboard 200. The lead single from Trip at Knight, Miss the Rage with Playboi Carti, reaches number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and becomes his highest-charting song. His fifth album, Mansion Musik, peaks at number three on the Billboard 200, and his sixth mixtape, A Love Letter to You 5, reaches number 13.

He releases Neon Shark vs Pegasus, a deluxe reissue of Pegasus, in collaboration with drummer Travis Barker. He also releases the collaborative extended play Genre: Sadboy with fellow Ohio-based rapper MGK.
