Trev Gibb

Trev Gibb is a UK singer-songwriter from Gateshead and based in Newcastle upon Tyne. He works in folk and pop, and is active as a solo performer on the Newcastle scene from 2005.

Solo work and recording

In June 2008, a solo performance in support of Les Cox Sportifs at Morden Tower in Newcastle brings him to the attention of members of Field Music, Maxïmo Park and The Futureheads. That leads to recording sessions with David Brewis of Field Music. Over the following year and a half, he records an album’s worth of material. Two songs from these sessions, “Corrina’s Nylon Strings” and “Say You Will”, appear on Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing show.

Deerhart

Deerhart forms in late summer 2010 so the material recorded with David Brewis can be performed live. The line-up is Trev Gibb on vocals, keys and guitar, Kev Irving on bass, Nick Sheffield on guitar, Anth Steel on guitar, and Alex Hall on drums. The group plans an EP of its material and a small-run 7-inch release of selected recorded tracks.
