Très.B

Très.B is an indie rock and indie pop trio formed at a Danish højskole. The group brings together Polish singer and bassist Misia Furtak, half Danish and half English drummer Tom Pettit, and half Dutch and half American guitarist Olivier Heim. The band name is taken directly from French and means “very b”.

Origins and line-up

The band begins with a cover of PJ Harvey’s “Who the Fuck” at the school where it forms. Although the members come from different countries and backgrounds, the group develops in the Lowlands scene and is described as a Dutch talent by a Dutch alternative radio station.

Très.B is based around Misia Furtak on vocals and bass, Olivier Heim on guitar, and Tom Pettit on drums.

Releases and sound

The band’s debut EP is Neon Chameleon, followed by the single and video for a debut track mixed in New York by Victor Van Vugt, who works with artists including PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Depeche Mode. The group also releases Scylla and Charybdis, which includes earlier material such as “Ola”, and songs including “Addiction”, “Winter In My Hands” and “Moonbathing”.

The band’s music is described as melancholic pop with an uneasy edge, with comparisons made to Björk, PJ Harvey and Sonic Youth. Misia Furtak’s voice is noted for moving between breathing, sighing, shouting, screaming and singing.

Live work and recognition

Très.B builds a live reputation through performances across Europe and gives more than 100 shows at festivals and venues. The group takes part in Popronde 2007 and finishes second in the finals of “Nu of Nooit” in 2008. It also shares stages with acts including Moke, Sioen, Vive La Fête, Agua de Annique, Hey, Nosowska, Dick4Dick, HIT ME TV and Alain Clark.

Coverage in the music press describes the debut EP as strong melodic pop and notes that the band’s songs draw listeners in with a dark, uneasy quality.
