Treecreeper

Treecreeper is an alt.country rock group formed in Wendover, England, by brothers Will and Greg Burns. The band grows out of Will Burns’s earlier songwriting, which begins while he is at school, when he starts punk bands of varying seriousness. After leaving school, he works in the factories and bars of his hometown and develops a more distinctive writing style. He later plays solo shows and fronts a short-lived band called Hart Crane before the brothers begin playing together.

Steven joins on guitar and Simon Masters on drums, and the group develops its sound through loud, feedback-heavy shows around the country. Treecreeper builds a reputation as a strong live act, with Will Burns singled out as the group’s songwriter. His lyrics are shaped as much by literature as by music, using impressionistic language and favouring ambiguity over direct storytelling.
