Trans-Siberian March Band
Trans-Siberian March Band is a London-based 13-piece Balkan brass band formed in 2007. The group plays a mixed repertoire that includes its own version of klezmer alongside Turkish, Russian and Latin material, as well as original compositions and traditional dance tunes.
Style and repertoire
The band is known for a high-energy performance style and a broad, borderless approach to dance music. Its performances combine Balkan brass with elements associated with klezmer, ska and other festival-friendly styles. The group’s shows are built to be lively and are described as featuring both originals and traditional tunes.
Live work and collaborations
Trans-Siberian March Band has an established presence in the UK festival scene and beyond, including the Balkan, burlesque and wider festival circuits. It has played Glastonbury, WOMAD, Bestival, Camp Bestival, Lovebox, Standon Calling, and the main stages of Shambala and Kendal Calling. The band also collaborates with turntable artist DJ Yoda on a show designed for festival audiences.
