Totally Enormous Extint Dinosaurs is the recording alias of Orlando Higginbottom, born in 1986 and from London, United Kingdom. The project works across alternative dance, ambient, bass house, breakbeat, breaks and club-oriented electronic music, and is also associated with indie, house, electro and electronica.

Releases

The act debuts with the All In One Sixty Dancehalls EP in 2009 on Greco-Roman, followed by All In Two Sixty Dancehalls EP in 2010 on the same label. That second EP brings wider attention, particularly through the track “Garden”. Early material is later collected on Prehistory I and Prehistory II, both issued in 2011 on Greco-Roman. The debut album Trouble follows in 2012.

Live work and recognition

Higginbottom performs with a live setup that includes unusual instruments, glitter cannons and dinosaur imagery, and the project tours internationally across America and Europe. It also plays headline dates in the UK and appears at major summer festivals. “Garden” is reissued on Polydor and receives support from BBC Radio 1, as well as a global placement in the Nokia Lumia advertising campaign. The track becomes one of the most recognisable electronic-pop records of its period and passes 2.5 million views on YouTube.

Remixes and collaborations

Totally Enormous Extint Dinosaurs has an extensive remix catalogue, including work on tracks by Lady Gaga, Friendly Fires and Professor Green. Higginbottom also travels to the Congo to work with local musicians as one of the producers invited to contribute to Damon Albarn and Oxfam’s DRC LP project.
