Torqux

Torqux is a UK dubstep and electronic act made up of cousins James “Jimmy” Tippet and David “Dave” Lee. The project begins as a solo venture for Jimmy before he teams up with Dave and records as Torqux & Twist. In 2012, they continue as a full-time duo under the Torqux name.

Career

After touring across Europe and North America, Torqux broadens its sound beyond dubstep and gains wider attention with the track “Blazin”. That release draws interest from Chase & Status and leads to a record on MTA Records with Lady Leshurr. The track becomes one of the duo’s best-known releases, reaching the BBC 1Xtra B List, number one on the MTV Base Chart Show, and number three in the Music Week Urban 30. It also appears in television programmes and is performed live by the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms.

Other projects and releases

In 2015, Torqux & Twist create Tru Fonix as an alias for their house-oriented material. Torqux later returns to dubstep with the Project T EP on Uplink Audio and The Wolf EP on Firepower Records in 2016. Further releases follow on Never Say Die’s Black Label and Circus Records. The project pauses from 2019, with Jimmy continuing to lead it.
