Tomora

Tomora is an electronic music duo formed in 2025 by Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer AURORA and British musician and producer Tom Rowlands, who is best known as one half of The Chemical Brothers. The name combines their first names. The project develops from a creative partnership that grows out of several years of informal studio work after the pair first meet at Glastonbury Festival in 2016.

Background and collaboration

Rowlands later contributes production to AURORA’s solo work, and AURORA also works with The Chemical Brothers on material from their album No Geography. Tomora’s sound combines AURORA’s vocals and songwriting with Rowlands’ electronic production, and draws on electronica, trip hop, techno, electronic and dance-pop. The act is associated with electronic, dance, big beat and electronica.

Releases

Tomora first appears publicly in 2025, before any official music is released, when the project name begins appearing on major festival lineups including Coachella. The duo formally announces the project on 4 December 2025 alongside the debut single Ring the Alarm. Their debut studio album, Come Closer, follows in 2026. It is written and produced jointly by AURORA and Tom Rowlands and includes the singles Ring the Alarm, The Thing, Come Closer, Somewhere Else and I Drink the Light.

Style and reception

The album combines emotional songwriting, atmospheric vocals and layered electronic production. Songs including A Boy Like You, Ring the Alarm, Somewhere Else and In a Minute show the duo’s mix of euphoric dance music, experimental electronics and emotional lyricism. The record receives positive critical attention for the contrast between Rowlands’ production style and AURORA’s vocal approach.

Live activity

After the album’s release, Tomora makes its live debut and announces tour dates across Europe, North America and Asia.
