Tomoki Tamura is a Japan-born DJ and producer based in London, associated with deep house and related electronic styles. He works under his own name and also as Tomoki&nono, and is linked with Four:Twenty, SAW, Plastic City and Nite Grooves.
Career
He moves to London in 2004 and continues to DJ in clubs there, including Fabric, Ministry of Sound and Plastic People. From 2007 until the club closes in 2009, he is resident DJ at The End, also known as AKA.
Tamura’s own night, Holic, becomes a regular London event and also holds a residency at Womb in Japan. Through this work he acts as a connection between the London and Japanese club scenes.
Style and radio work
His DJ style combines deep, tech, electro, minimal and soulful influences. He is the first Japanese DJ to appear on Ministry of Sound Radio and also has a weekly show on House FM.
Releases and production
In 2008, his debut EP Tomoki&nono/Voices&3years on Four:Twenty reaches No. 1 in Beatport’s deep house chart. After that release, Satoshi Tomiie selects his production work, leading to two releases as Tomoki&nono on SAW Recordings.
His track Lark appears on Satoshi Tomiie’s mix compilation 3D on Renaissance. In 2009, he also signs material to Plastic City in Germany and Nite Grooves in New York.
Performances
He performs at parties and venues in a number of countries, including Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Belarus, Greece and Turkey.
