Tom Swoon

Tom Swoon is a Polish electronic music producer and DJ, formerly known as Pixel Cheese. He is born in Poland in 1993 and comes from Goleniow.

Early music and first projects

He starts making music at a young age. As a teenager, he is interested in rock and forms a band with friends at 14, playing guitar regularly. At 17, he discovers electronic dance music and takes inspiration from artists including Deadmau5 and Daft Punk. He teaches himself DJing, practises in a local club at weekends and after school, and later saves for a proper DJ setup, moving from home-made mixing to producing music more seriously.

Bootlegs, remixes and first releases

Within six months of building his own setup, he creates his first bootlegs and unofficial remixes. These gain support from Nervo, Gareth Emery and Laidback Luke. Under the name Pixel Cheese, his bootleg of David Guetta and Avicii vs. Laidback Luke’s “Till Sunshine” attracts more than 15 million views on YouTube and becomes a major early success.

At the end of 2011, he releases his first official remix, Gareth Emery’s “Tokyo”, on Garuda, and it enters Beatport’s Top 100. He follows this with remixes for Steve Aoki and Kaskade. In March 2012, he releases his debut single, “Elva”, on Ultra Records, and it receives support from Tiësto.

Style and career development

His work is associated with house, progressive house, EDM and electronic dance music, and his early career develops through remix work, bootlegs and club DJing before moving into original releases.
