Tom Jenkins is a Welsh singer-songwriter from Pontypridd, Wales, and the singer of the Welsh band Straight Lines. His work is described as indie, folk and country-influenced, with connections to alt-country and Americana.
He comes from the South Wales Valleys, and the landscape and ex-coal mining communities around him shape his music. Before returning to Wales, he spends time in New Zealand working in sheep shearing, shepherding and ranching. After coming home in early 2017, he shares a new set of songs with American producer Elijah Ford, who pushes for them to make an album together.
Jenkins and his band then travel to Fort Worth, Texas to record his debut album, funded by money he earns overseas. The project aims to capture stories from previous years in an emotional indie-folk style with country production influences. One of the songs associated with this period is “Misery in Comfort”, which is noted for its storytelling and his vocal delivery.
He is also associated with Audio Network.
