Tom Chaplin

Tom Chaplin is a British rock singer from Hastings, United Kingdom, best known as the lead voice of Keane. Born in 1979, he is also associated with Band Aid 20.

Keane

Chaplin is at the centre of Keane, the British band whose sound is built around his emotional, high tenor vocal style. Keane scores five number one albums between 2004 and 2013 and has hits including Everybody’s Changing, Is It Any Wonder? and Somewhere Only We Know. The band sits within rock, with connections to indie, alternative, pop rock and alternative rock.

Solo work

Chaplin releases his solo debut album, The Wave, in 2016. The album contains eleven songs written by Chaplin and produced by Matt Hales, who also works under the name Aqualung and is linked with Lianne La Havas. It is recorded in Pasadena, California and London.

The Wave includes Still Waiting and Hardened Heart. The album is described as moving through difficult personal material while remaining life-affirming, with Chaplin’s voice carrying the record across a wide emotional range.
