Tom Aspaul

Tom Aspaul is a British singer, songwriter and record producer from Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. Born in 1986, he writes and performs pop music and has also worked in electronic and dance-adjacent styles. After studying at Central Saint Martins in London, he begins his career writing for other artists.

Songwriting and collaborations

Aspaul's writing credits include Kylie Minogue, Karen Harding and Little Boots. In 2013 he signs to Little Boots' label, On Repeat Records. His release for the label is the MNEK-produced single "Indiana", which receives support from Popjustice and Pitchfork. A remix of the track reaches the top of the Hype Machine chart. Minogue later records a version of the song under the title "Feels So Good" and includes it on her album Kiss Me Once, with Aspaul contributing backing vocals.

Solo releases

In 2014 Aspaul premieres "Good Together", the first single from his debut mixtape Revelation. The GRADES-produced track receives support from Huw Stephens and is named by Zane Lowe as his "Next Hype". The mixtape is self-released in 2015 and receives praise from Billboard. In 2015 he also supports KStewart at her debut gig in London.

Albums

After moving back to Wolverhampton in 2019, Aspaul releases his debut album Black Country Disco in 2020. The album is built mainly around disco-influenced pop songs and reflects a breakup and his return to his hometown after more than a decade in London. He follows it with the remix album Black Country Discothéque in 2021, after receiving an artists' grant, and his second album Life in Plastic in 2022.
