Times of Grace

Times of Grace is a metalcore group from Southampton, Massachusetts, active since 2010. The project centres on Adam Dutkiewicz and Jesse Leach, both of Killswitch Engage. Dutkiewicz handles vocals, guitar, bass and drums, while Leach provides vocals. The group also works with a touring lineup that includes Joel Stroetzel on guitar, Matt Bachand on bass and Dan Gluszak on drums; Daniel Struble also appears on bass in 2011.

Formation and early material

The band begins recording material in 2008 after Dutkiewicz writes songs while recovering from emergency back surgery during a Killswitch Engage tour in the UK. He later contacts Leach to contribute lyrics and vocals. At the time, Dutkiewicz describes the material as mixing metal, rock, pop, shoegaze and punk, with the intention of pushing genre boundaries. An album is first planned for 2009, but the project stays largely inactive until 2010.

Debut album

Times of Grace releases the single “Strength in Numbers” in 2010 and follows it with The Hymn of a Broken Man, issued through Roadrunner Records in 2011. The album reaches number 44 on the Billboard 200 and sells nearly 10,000 copies. Another video is made for “Where the Spirit Leads Me”.

Live activity and festivals

After the debut album, the group announces touring plans and later performs at Download Festival in 2011, Rock am Ring in 2011 and Soundwave Festival in Australia in 2012. It also tours in support of Underoath in America and plays European dates with Matt Bachand on bass.

Members

Adam Dutkiewicz and Jesse Leach remain the core of the group. The touring lineup also includes Joel Stroetzel, Matt Bachand and Dan Gluszak, with Daniel Struble credited on bass in 2011.
