Tim Booth is a singer, dancer and actor from Bradford, United Kingdom. He is best known as the lead singer of James, a band with which he remains associated, and his work sits within classic pop and rock, as well as indie and alternative contexts.

Career

Booth is born in 1960 and attends Shrewsbury School. He becomes known as the frontman of James, leaves the band in 2001, and later rejoins in 2007. Alongside his work with the group, he continues a solo career and acting work.

Solo and collaborative work

In 1996, Booth records Booth and the Bad Angel with film composer Angelo Badalamenti. His first solo album, Bone, appears in 2004, although he describes it as a collaboration. His second solo album, Love Life, comes out in 2011.

Acting and other activities

After leaving James, Booth teaches dance lessons and develops his acting career. He appears in a small role as Mr. Zsasz in Batman Begins in 2005, and also appears in the independent British film Poor Wee Me in 2009.
