Thud

Thud is a name used by more than one music group. One version is a Hong Kong shoegaze and dream pop band formed by Andy and Sky on guitars, brothers Wang and Wai on bass and drums, and Kim on synths and vocals. They meet at HKDI and describe themselves as “weirdos”. Their debut EP, Floret, is released by the Hong Kong label Records For Children, and their self-titled debut album later appears on Kanine Records. The Floret EP is also repressed by Kanine Records with new remixes by Elliott Fraser of Ringo Deathstarr, the BV’s, Orchin, and For Tracey Hyde. This group later renames itself Lucid Express.

Another Thud is a US stoner/trash metal band from the DC/MD area. Its members include Robert Dotolo on vocals and guitar, Gregg Hudson on drums and backing vocals, Chris Rasley on bass, and Adam Rutland on guitars and backing vocals. The band’s only known album is Life & Death, which contains 12 songs.

Thud is also the name of a project by Paul Gannaway, who also records as Shirk and CUT OUT. This version of the project combines death metal, grindcore, and electronic elements, with an occasional comic tone.

A further reference to Thud identifies it as a supporting band for Kevin Gilbert, with Nick D’Virgilio listed as a member.
