Throw Rocks at Cops
Throw Rocks at Cops is a Finnish rock band from Helsinki that is active between 1980 and 2009. The group is associated with glam rock and rock, and its line-up includes Nasty Suicide, Sami Yaffa, Andy McCoy, Michael Monroe, Conny Bloom, Razzle, Terry Chimes, Jesper Sporre and Kari “Lacu” Lahtinen.
Formation and line-up
The band starts in July 2010, bringing together members of Sugar3, Cock 55, Up Against The Wall Motherfucker! and Insufficient Funds. The original line-up includes Joe on drums. He later leaves because of time constraints with another band, Girl Spit, and the group continues as a four-piece.
Style and activity
After Joe’s departure, the band rewrites its set and moves towards a more folk-influenced sound. It operates on the DIY punk circuit and shares stages with acts including P.A.I.N, Inner Terrestrials, AOS3, RDF, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Captain Hotknives, Faintest Idea, The Usual Suspects, Beng Beng Cocktail, Onsind, Autonomads and Black Star Dub Collective.
Performances and recordings
Throw Rocks at Cops also appears at events such as Strummercamp, The Rogues Picnic, The Dirty Weekend and The Wreck And Roll Circus. The band records its first album for co-release by several DIY labels. At that point, the line-up is Ian on vocals and guitar, Kay on bass and vocals, Jim on guitar, and Scott on ukulele.
