Three Bonzos And A Piano

Three Bonzos And A Piano is a United Kingdom comedy group formed in 2009 by former Bonzo Dog Band members Roger Ruskin Spear, Rodney Slater and Sam Spoons, together with Dave Glasson. The group continues in the comic, music-and-mayhem style associated with the Bonzos.

Background

Sam Spoons plays with Dave Glasson in the Whoopee Band in the 1960s and 1970s, and later the two form Tatty Ollity with Roger Ruskin Spear. Roger and Dave also form the Slightly Dangerous Brothers in the 1980s. Sam later forms Bill Posters Will Be Band in 1983 with other Whoopee Band members. Three Bonzos And A Piano bring these strands together as a continuation of that wider Bonzo-related circle.

Performances and release

The group tours the UK extensively in 2009. In early 2010 they play at The Bloomsbury with guests including ‘Legs’ Larry Smith, Vernon Dudley Bohay Nowell and Andy Roberts, and they launch their first CD, Hair Of The Dog.
