Thomas White
Thomas White is a Brighton-based UK musician, producer and visual artist. Born in 1984, he begins performing as a teenager and forms his first band at the age of 13 with schoolfriend Alistair Gavan. While still 16 and studying for his GCSEs, he is offered his first record deal with DB Records.
Career
White is best known as part of several Brighton groups and related projects. With his brother Alex, he forms the core of The Electric Soft Parade, a psych-pop band that releases three albums and a six-track EP and receives award recognition. He also plays vocals and guitar in Brakes, and contributes drums to Restlesslist and bass to Clowns. He is also a member of White Magic for Lovers.
Solo work and collaborations
White releases his first solo album, I Dream of Black, in 2008. A second solo album, The Maximalist, follows on Cooking Vinyl in 2010. On that record, he plays, records and mixes the material himself, and the album has a more complex hi-fi sound and artwork by American artist Keith Boadwee.
He also works regularly as a session musician, including with Patrick Wolf, British Sea Power and Sparks.
