The Zawose Queens

The Zawose Queens are a Tanzanian duo made up of Pendo Zawose and Leah Zawose. They come from Bagamoyo and are the daughters of singer and musician Hukwe Zawose. The group’s first album, Maisha, appears in 2024 and is the first album released by female members of the Zawose musical family.

Their music is identified with African blues and traditional pop, and they are also associated with folk, indie folk, folk pop and Tanzanian music.
