The Wrecks
The Wrecks are a Los Angeles-based indie rock band that forms in Thousand Oaks, California. Active since 2015, the group works in a pop rock and alternative rock style with clear pop punk and punk associations, and it is influenced by acts such as The Pixies, The Strokes, Weezer and Vampire Weekend. The band is known for combining catchy choruses with lyrics and vocals that carry a more offbeat, substantial character.
Early recording and debut release
The band records its debut EP almost on a whim, with friend and engineer Andrew D’Angelo, after being surprised by access to a studio for only a few days. With no budget and only a week together as a band, the group writes and records the songs in three days. The session becomes more complicated when the band later realises it is not meant to be in the studio that week, so it removes its traces from the computer and leaves with the finished EP on a hard drive.
Releases
The Wrecks issue their first single, Favorite Liar, in March 2016. Their releases include We Are The Wrecks, Panic Vertigo EP, Infinitely Ordinary, Static EP, Sonder and Sonder Deluxe.
Line-up
The band’s members are Harrison Nussbaum, Nick Anderson, Aaron Kelley, Billy Nally, Nick Schmidt and Wes Weiss. In the earlier four-piece line-up, Nick Anderson handles vocals and guitar, Aaron Kelley plays bass, Nick Schmidt plays guitar and vocals, and Billy Nally plays drums.
Labels
The Wrecks release music through Another Century, Big Noise Music Group and Lava.
