The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die is an emo, indie rock and post-rock group from Willimantic, United States. The band forms in 2009 and remains active. Its membership includes Thomas Diaz, Josh Cyr, Brian Casey, Greg Horbal, Steven Buttery, Chris Teti, David F. Bello, Katie Shanholtzer-Dvorak, Dylan Balliett and Derrick Shanholtzer-Dvorak.

Style and composition

The group develops a dense, textured sound through layered, heavily effected guitars, along with synthesizer, cello and trumpet. Its material is often associated with the atmospheric side of post-rock and is compared to second-wave post-emo indie rock from the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band writes collaboratively, often arranging songs on the spot, and shares lead vocals among five members.
