The WOO!worths

The WOO!worths are a pop group who make harmony-heavy, rhythmic music using a mixture of organic and electronic sounds. The trio’s members come from London, Brussels and Brighton, and their writing and recording takes place in Brighton and London.

Formation and members

Richard Smith and Steve Baker begin working together on songs after their previous band stops. After they record a set of demos, they form a band, choose the name The WOO!worths and create an online profile. They play their first show at the Prince Albert in Brighton. Jo Bramli later joins on synths and vocals, adding new textures to the group. Bramli is also associated with Largo, We Are Snazzy and Imitation Electric Piano.

Live work and recognition

The band plays extensively at venues including The Dublin Castle, The Old Queens Head, 93 Feet East, Proud Camden, 229, Coalition, Jam, The Fly Bar, Notting Hill Arts Club, Audio, Shoreditch House, Concorde2, The Hope, Monto Water Rats and The Rhythm Factory. In 2009, Rankin selects them as winners of his Rankin Live competition, which leads to a photo shoot, a slot on a major stage at The Big Chill and appearances entertaining guests and VIPs. The resulting photographs appear in Esquire and Dazed & Confused, and the band also supports Little Boots at the Destroy Rankin exhibition at Philip de Pury gallery in London. They are the only band to perform for guests at the Rankin Live closing party.

Further performances and recording

They open for Little Dragon in Brighton and return to The Big Chill in 2010, playing the Solaraid stage and headlining the East Rooms guest area. The WOO!worths remain unsigned, un-managed and independent while they write and record their debut release and develop their live set.
