The Wild Oats
The Wild Oats is a San Diego celtic folk group active from 1991 to 2002. The band plays Celtic and original folk material, and performs in settings that include coffee houses, science fiction conventions, Renaissance faires and Society for Creative Anachronism events.
Style and influences
The group’s sound draws on a range of folk and early music-influenced acts, including Silly Wizard, Steeleye Span, the John Renbourn Group, Boiled in Lead, Jolly Beggar and the Medæval Bæbes. Its repertoire includes both traditional and original songs.
Members
The Wild Oats includes Enrique Acosta, Laurie Flieder, Lórien Patton, Allison Lonsdale, Eben Brooks, Craig Kozeluh, Suzi Cavaness, Marc Biagi, Wolf Klauschie, Katie Weatherup, Laura Kate Barrett, Liz Hostetter and April Kozeluh.
The name has also been used by at least one other group: a 1960s British R&B and beat band from rural Suffolk.
