The Whiskey River Band
The Whiskey River Band are an original Connecticut band formed in 1987. They play Southern rock and classic rock, and also bring blues, funk and soul into their sets. Their style is described as Southern rock from outside the American South, with influences heard in the music of acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, The Outlaws and Blackfoot.
Recognition and live history
The band wins The New Haven Advocate’s Best Of award for Southern Rock/Country music four times, by such a wide margin that the category is later retired for several years. Over a career of more than two decades, they share bills with Charlie Daniels, The Outlaws, .38 Special, Johnny Winter, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Doobie Brothers.
Media and airplay
The Whiskey River Band’s music is in regular rotation on internet radio stations including AllSouthernRock.com and ConfederateRadio.net, as well as on podcasts around the world. Press descriptions highlight their melody, harmony and musicianship, and place them alongside Southern rock and party-band traditions.
