The Upsessions

The Upsessions

The Upsessions are a reggae group from Haarlem and Amsterdam, formed in 2005. They play early reggae and are associated with skinhead reggae, ska and rocksteady. The line-up is founded by trombone player Giel, who previously plays in the Amsterdam ska band De Hardheid, and lead vocalist Boss, who previously is the bass player in Rude Rich and The High Notes.

After appearing at Dutchska, described as one of the biggest ska festivals in the Netherlands, the group begins to play outside the Netherlands, with performances in France, Switzerland and Belgium, as well as at festivals in Germany including This-Is-Ska and Summer Safari. In 2006, they sign to the UK ska label MoonSkaWorld, which releases their debut album, The New Heavyweight Champion, in 2007.
