The Treatment

The Treatment are a British hard rock band formed in Cambridge in 2008 by drummer Dhani Mansworth, who was still at school at the time. Mansworth grows up listening to AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, and his father, guitarist and manager Laurie Mansworth, helps guide the early development of the group. Laurie Mansworth has also played in More, Airrace and Roadstar.

Early line-up and formation

After unsuccessful attempts to find local musicians, Mansworth looks further afield for bandmates. Guitarist Ben Brookland, from Tadley, joins first. Bass player Rick Newman, also known as Swoggle, follows; he is the same age as Mansworth and brings a solid bass sound. Newman suggests guitarist Tagore Grey, a school friend from Petersfield, and he fits the band’s sound. The group then move to Cambridge and live together with the Mansworth family so they can rehearse and concentrate on the band.

After around six months of searching for a singer, they add Matt Jones, a vocalist from Norwich. He moves to Cambridge within a week of joining. The band then spend a year refining their sound before playing live.
