The System

The System are a United States synth group active from 1982 to 1989. The line-up includes David Frank, Mic Murphy and Khris Kellow. The group is associated with electrosoul, R&B, punk, punk rock, funk and soul.

Overview

The System are best known for their 1980s synth-driven recordings. Their biggest hit is “Don’t Disturb This Groove”, which appears in 1987. They also record “You Are In My System”, another hit, and “Coming to America”, a track featured in the film of the same name.

Production work and later release

Alongside their own recordings, David Frank and Mic Murphy work as producers for other artists, including Chaka Khan on “I Feel for You”, Phil Collins on “Sussudio” and Mtume on “Juicy Fruit”. The group also releases System Overload in 2013.
