The Surrealist is an experimental progressive metal band based in Boston, Massachusetts. It is an instrumental trio made up of guitarist Roopam Garg, bassist Beauman Edwards and drummer John-Marc Degaard.

Style

The group works across progressive metal, jazz, eastern-fusion, ambient, psychedelic and soundtrack-influenced music. Its sound combines guitar-led passages, droning textures and shifting polyrhythms, and it presents itself as an instrumental project that blends a range of genres rather than fitting neatly into one.
