The Step is a British group associated with house, techno and electronic music. It includes Richard Barratt, Winston Hazel and Sarah Jay. The group is also linked with the Warp label.

Career

The Step is best known for the 1991 Warp Records single “Hey You”, which appears in several remixed versions. The group is also referred to as “Step”.

Name and discography

A separate act with the same name appears in the early 1980s as a British band signed to Epic. That earlier group works in a different style, combining r&b, new wave, power pop and rock and roll, and is known for the single “Love Letter”, the first of five singles.
