The Social

The Social

The Social is the name used by several different bands, including a north London post-punk and indie group, a US powerpop band from Indianapolis, a California alternative pop band, and a UK82-influenced hardcore punk band from Liverpool. The North London group is made up of Laurence Hussey, Alfie Milner, Liam Westbrook and Stuee Bevan, and their sound is described as direct and urgent, with deep vocals, strong bass lines and tightly driving drums. Their influences include Joy Division and The Smiths, and they aim to create a distinct English post-punk style.

The Indianapolis version of The Social begins in late 2010 and releases a debut EP titled Summer Isn’t Over in 2011, produced by John Naclerio. That line-up tours extensively across the eastern United States and shares stages with The Dangerous Summer, The Morning Of, Every Avenue, Hawthorne Heights and I See Stars. The California band consists of Keaton Stromberg on vocals, Alexander Rosca on drums and Thomas Horrock on guitar, and draws on artists such as Phoenix, MGMT, M83 and Walk the Moon. The Liverpool band is a hardcore punk act with members who also play in Violent Reaction, The Flex and Nowhere Fast.
