The Silencers are a Scottish rock band formed in 1986, with Joseph Donnelly, Jimme O’Neill, Cha Burnz and Martin Hanlin among the members. The group is active from Scotland, United Kingdom, and its sound sits within pop and rock.

Career

The band forms after the end of Fingerprintz, an earlier 1980s group. They begin recording with the 1987 album A Letter from St Paul. In their early years they have a couple of hits, but wider commercial success follows when the Scottish Tourist Board features their version of the traditional song “Wild Mountain Thyme”.
