The Shits

The Shits are a punk group from Leeds, UK. They work in a noisy strain of punk rock that also draws on noise rock, hardcore and metal, with a garage-rock base pushed into abrasive, heavily amplified territory.

Style and influences

Their sound is described through references to the Stooges, the AmRep label, Brainbombs and Drunk In Hell, with emphasis on relentless riffing, aggressive delivery and a bleak, confrontational atmosphere. Their music is presented as a form of catharsis built from distortion, intensity and negativity.

You’re A Mess

You’re A Mess is the group’s second album. It contains eight tracks and is framed as a severe, punishing record built from “feral” songs, savage guitar work and a harsh, stripped-down approach. The album is associated with the same lineage of abrasive punk and garage noise that shapes the band’s wider sound.
