The Scorpios

The Scorpios are a Sudanese afro beat group based in London, active since 2010. They form a septet and draw on Sudanese musical forms while blending Arabic rhythms, guitar-led lines, heavy bass, synths, horns and percussion. Their sound combines Eastern funk with a cyclical, trance-like quality, and also reflects influences associated with both Khartoum and Detroit.

The group originates from Central Sudan and is based in West London after leaving the region following the fundamentalist takeover there.
