The Roseville Band

The Roseville Band are a Wrexham-based group making soulful, blues-influenced rock. The band forms around guitarist brothers Andy and Stevie Jones, who grow up in a house called Roseville in the Flintshire mountains. Over time, that house draws in friends and musicians from the surrounding area, and the band emerges from that community.

The line-up centres on Andy Jones’s songwriting and distinctive vocals, with a rhythm section and a two-piece horn section completing the six-piece arrangement. Their sound draws on the heartfelt, soulful and gritty music of Neil Young, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and The Band, alongside the attitude and commitment to individuality associated with Glasvegas, Arcade Fire and Flaming Lips.

The Roseville Band gain sessions and airplay on XFM Manchester, Juice FM and BBC Wales, and also receive airplay in the United States and across Europe. In 2009 they are dubbed the “Welsh Kings of Leon” by the NME. By that point they have built a reputation as a hard-working live act, playing well over a hundred shows in two years.

They play Glastonbury Festival, Cardiff Calling and The Square Festival, sharing bills with Super Furry Animals, Supergrass and The Streets. After a run of UK festival appearances in 2009, they record their debut album with producers Dom McCready and Lance Thomas, whose credits include Ladytron and Simian.
