The River 68's

The River 68's are a rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 2010. The line-up consists of Craig McCabe on lead vocals and guitar, Christian McCabe on lead guitar and backing vocals, Gerry Loughrey on bass and backing vocals, and Dave McCluskey on drums.

Craig and Christian McCabe are brothers, and the four members grow up on the outskirts of Glasgow during the 1990s. They meet at school and form an early friendship through a shared interest in music. Before settling on The River 68's, they work through several other bands, names and line-ups.

The band rehearses in a studio-and-lodgings space in a disused office above the centre of Glasgow. From there, they look out towards the former site of the Glasgow Apollo, a venue they connect with the city’s live music history.

Style and influences

The River 68's play rock with a classic rock attitude and a contemporary delivery. They name Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes and Foo Fighters among their influences. They also place particular emphasis on Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones and The Beatles’ White Album, both released in 1968, which gives the band its name.
