The Reverse

The Reverse are a North London-based indie band from London, active from 2004. They work in anti-folk, folk and rock. The group is a four-piece and has released material under the name The Reverse in more than one country, with the UK act distinguished from other bands using the same name.

Releases

The London group has one full-length album, Kind Words For Cruel Times, and it appears alongside earlier releases that include a limited compilation of early recordings called Dead Messages, issued on kabukikore, plus three EPs: A Clean Incision, Shutterspeed and My Lifelong Psychological Experiment, the last three released through Run Out Records. The band also makes compilation appearances.

Style and comparisons

Their sound is associated with anti-folk, folk and rock, and they are compared with Belle & Sebastian, Lloyd Cole and Pulp.

Other acts using the name

There are other bands called The Reverse, including a four-piece from Conwy in North Wales and a duo made up of Tara Emelye and Todd Karasick, who have links to mad planets, The Secret History, My Favorite and Bell Hollow.
