The Resignators

The Resignators are a ska and ska punk group from Melbourne, Australia. They are also described as a ska punk rock band, and their sound combines melodic horns, keyboards and a tight rhythm section with a Jamaican-inspired back beat. Their music is compared at times with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Less Than Jake and Suicide Machines.

Background

The band is made up of eight members and has been active for more than a decade. Its members come to the group with experience from other local and international acts, including GWAR, Addiction 64 and The Vals. The band’s identity is shaped not only by its music but also by a focus on live energy, shared good times and audience connection.

Tours and festivals

The Resignators tour extensively across Australia, Europe and North America. Their live history includes appearances at Open Flair in Germany, Ottawa Blues Festival in Canada, Train to Skaville in Croatia, Mighty Sounds in the Czech Republic, Victoria Ska Fest in Canada and Pod Paru in the Czech Republic.

Recording

The band records original material in studio with producer Marcel Fernandez of Los Angeles, who is also associated with work for artists including ZZ Top, Foo Fighters, AFI, RX Bandits, NOFX and Voodoo Glow Skulls.

Reception

A live review from Montreal describes the band as combining a Gang of Four-like edge with ska, noting their strong energy, vintage rock and roll elements, a distinctive organ part and an engaging frontman.
