The Rejects

The Rejects is the name used by several different groups, but the version identified in the verified facts is a punk and glam metal band from Iowa that is active from 1995 and later reforms as Murderdolls.

Iowa horror punk group

This Iowa-based line-up appears in the 1990s as a horror punk and horror rock band. It includes Joey Jordison and functions as a precursor to Murderdolls. The group is active during 1994 in the bio, but the authoritative date places the project from 1995 and later, ending before its reformation as Murderdolls.

Other bands using the name

The name The Rejects also applies to a different band formed at Goldsmith's College in South London in 1976 by Bruno Wizard, who recruits songwriter Ian Kane. That line-up begins by playing at The Roxy in January 1977 supporting The Damned and The Vibrators, then goes on to share bills with Wire, Generation X, The Jam, Eater, 999 and Sham 69. Wizard later recruits Jim Welton on bass, David Dus on drums and various guitarists, then brings in Anton Hayman before renaming the group The Homosexuals.

Another Rejects group forms in Essex in 1997 around J and Doozer and develops a style they call Twat Rock, described as a mix of punk, ska, jazz, waltz, hardcore and other elements. That line-up records the Terry the Sexgod EP, later albums including Mother Schabooboo and More Hardcore than Channel 5, and adds members such as drummer Will, the Guv, Carlos, Nickie on saxophone and Mike Cisco on trumpet before splitting around 2005.

A further group forms in Madrid in the summer of 2002, bringing together players with an interest in punk rock and influenced by bands such as Swingin Utters, Social Distortion, U.S. Bombs, One Man Army, The Forgotten, Turbo A.C.s, Bonecrusher and Whiskey Rebels, as well as classic 1977 punk.

There is also a Raynes Park supergroup using the name, playing a mixed style described as rock, pop, ska, funk, punk and reggae.
